Why Were the Games Created?

Justice is a fundamental right

Video games are one of the most experiential ways for future justice leaders to learn both how the system is now and potentially be inspired as to how they imagine change. The games offer “hands-on” entertainment and education.

Many people who play video games aren’t bogged down by the weight of the way the criminal justice system has been. They see past that. They see possibilities.

That’s why we have taken an actual case and imagined how it could have “played out” as well as how it actually did.

Teams of developers, artists, designers, and more have come together for this initiative over the last few years.

Where are we now: We are working on developing the last couple of games with an expectation of completing them by the end of 2025. After the games are complete, we’ll need to test, iterate, and collaborate with others to optimize the game’s opportunity. It is estimated that it will take another six months.

In the meantime: We’re building a community to get to know one another. Past and current game developers, illustrators, law students, gamers, and others can talk about various aspects of the games and the opportunity to be involved. If you have game resources to help us evaluate protecting, marketing, distributing, licensing, or other aspects of the games, we want to hear from you.
